Karachi is set to rehabilitate 183 major roads as part of a special infrastructure initiative aimed at improving urban mobility and facilities.
A significant meeting led by Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah focused on the Karachi Special Road Rehabilitation Program, designed to enhance the city's road infrastructure.
During this meeting, Mayor of Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab detailed the finalization of 183 crucial roads within various Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs). These roads are vital as they function as major traffic corridors and provide essential alternative routes for thousands of daily commuters.
The minister instructed the Municipal Commissioner to expedite administrative processes and swiftly initiate the tendering phase to commence rehabilitation work without any delays. He highlighted the importance of this program in upgrading Karachi’s infrastructure and improving civic amenities for its residents.
Additionally, Mayor Wahab announced that upon completion of the road work, solar streetlights will be installed along these major routes, following a successful model applied on Sharae Faisal. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency, reduce costs, and improve roadway lighting.
The meeting included participation from notable officials such as Special Secretary Local Government Syed Azhar Shah and Municipal Commissioner Karachi Ibrar Jaffar, among others.
